Technical Parameters
Core Advantages
1. High-Performance Processing
The CPE310 is built around a 1.1 GHz Atom processor, delivering a Boolean execution speed of 0.072 milliseconds per 1,000 instructions — approximately three times faster than the 300 MHz Celeron processor in the legacy CPU310 it replaces. This performance increase enables faster scan times and improved throughput for complex control logic.
2. Battery-Less Memory Retention
The module uses an IC695ACC400 Energy Pack (included) to preserve user memory during system power loss. On power failure, the Energy Pack powers the CPU long enough to write user memory contents to non-volatile storage. This eliminates the need for periodic battery replacement, reducing maintenance costs and eliminating a common failure point.
3. Comprehensive Communication Capabilities
With embedded Ethernet and dual isolated serial ports, the CPE310 offers versatile connectivity. The Ethernet interface supports SRTP for programming, Modbus TCP for third-party system integration, and Ethernet Global Data (EGD) for deterministic peer-to-peer data exchange between controllers. The RS-232 and RS-485 ports support Modbus RTU Slave, SNP Slave, and Serial I/O protocols for connecting sensors, instruments, and HMI devices.
4. Flexible Memory Architecture
The CPE310 provides 10 MB of user memory and 10 MB of non-volatile flash program storage. The reference table sizes include 32K bits for discrete %I and %Q and up to 32K words each for analog %AI and %AQ. The module supports auto-located Symbolic Variables that can use any amount of user memory, enabling efficient program organization.
5. Seamless Legacy Migration
The CPE310 is a direct replacement for the IC695CPU310. Existing CPU310 applications can be migrated to the CPE310 without changing legacy PME software. Note that the RS-232 port on the CPE310 does not provide 5V power on pin 5, so the correct programming cable (IC693CBL316) must be used.
6. HART Pass-Through Support
The CPE310 supports HART Pass-Through communication, allowing HART data from compatible RX3i analog I/O modules to be transmitted to PC-based asset management tools. This enables remote configuration and diagnostics of HART field devices without additional hardware.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What is the GE Fanuc IC695CPE310?
It is a mid-range CPU module for the PACSystems RX3i platform, featuring a 1.1 GHz Atom processor, 10 MB user memory, embedded Ethernet, and dual serial ports for real-time control of machines, processes, and material handling systems.
Q2: What is the processing speed of this CPU?
The CPE310 runs at 1.1 GHz with a Boolean execution speed of 0.072 ms per 1,000 Boolean instructions.
Q3: How much memory does the IC695CPE310 have?
It provides 10 MB of user RAM and 10 MB of non-volatile flash memory for program storage.
Q4: Does this CPU require a battery for memory retention?
No. The CPE310 uses an IC695ACC400 Energy Pack (included) for battery-less memory retention. On power loss, the Energy Pack powers the CPU long enough to write user memory to non-volatile storage.
Q5: What communication interfaces are available?
The CPU includes embedded 10/100 Mbps Ethernet (SRTP, Modbus TCP, EGD) and two isolated serial ports: RS-232 (COM1) and RS-485 (COM2).
Q6: What programming languages are supported?
The CPE310 supports Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, and C programming languages.
Q7: Can I replace a CPU310 with the CPE310?
Yes. The CPE310 is a direct replacement for the IC695CPU310. Existing applications can be migrated without changing legacy PME software. However, note that the RS-232 port does not provide 5V power on pin 5, so the correct cable (IC693CBL316) must be used.
Q8: What is the operating temperature range?
The CPU operates from 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F).
Q9: Does this CPU support HART Pass-Through?
Yes. With compatible RX3i analog I/O modules and firmware, the CPE310 supports HART Pass-Through communication to PC-based asset management tools.
