FAQs

Q1: What is the primary function of the 3500/45-01-00?
It is a 4-channel Position Monitor that accepts input from proximity transducers, RPTs, DC/AC LVDTs, and rotary potentiometers. It conditions the signals to provide axial (thrust) position, differential expansion, case expansion, and valve position measurements, comparing them against user-programmable alarm setpoints for machinery protection .
Q2: What is the difference between 3500/45-01-00 and 3500/45-02-00?
The primary difference is the termination method. The -01-00 uses the 135137-01 Position I/O Module with Internal Terminations — field wiring connects directly to built-in terminal blocks. The -02-00 uses external terminations for applications requiring wiring access outside the rack .
Q3: How are the channels configured?
The monitor channels are configured in pairs. Channels 1 and 2 can perform one function, while channels 3 and 4 can perform another (or the same) function. Case expansion monitoring can only be performed on channels 3 and 4 . Each channel can be independently programmed via 3500 Rack Configuration Software to perform specific measurement functions .
Q4: What sensors are compatible with this module?
The 3500/45-01-00 supports:
-
Proximity transducers (Bently Nevada 3300 XL series)
-
Rotary Position Transducers (RPTs)
-
DC Linear Variable Differential Transformers (DC LVDTs)
-
AC Linear Variable Differential Transformers (AC LVDTs)
-
Rotary potentiometers
Q5: What firmware and software versions are required?
Adding the 3500/45 Position Monitor to an existing 3500 system requires:
-
3500 Rack Configuration Software 2.41 or higher
-
3500 Data Acquisition 2.20 or higher
-
3500 Operator Display 1.20 or higher
-
Firmware Version G
-
For RPT valve position, 3500 Configuration Software 3.00 or higher is required
