Q1: What is the primary function of the 3500/32-01-00?
It is a 4-Channel Relay Module that provides four independent relay outputs for alarm and shutdown logic in the 3500 machinery protection system. Each output can be independently programmed to perform voting logic using Alarm Drive Logic with AND/OR combinations of Alert, Danger, Not-OK, or PPL inputs from any monitor channel in the rack .
Q2: Where can the 3500/32-01-00 be installed in the rack?
The module can be placed in any slot to the right of the Rack Interface Module (RIM) or Transient Data Interface (TDI). It occupies one full-height front slot and requires one full-height rear slot for the I/O module .
Q3: What is the difference between the 3500/32 and the 3500/32M?
The 3500/32M is the enhanced version that supports SIL 2 functional safety and ATEX/IECEx hazardous area certifications. It uses the 149986-02 main card, while the standard 3500/32 uses the 125712-01 main card. The two are not interchangeable — installing a 3500/32M card in a legacy 3500/32 rack causes functionality issues, while using a 3500/32 card in a 3500/32M rack compromises safety certifications.
Q4: What are the common causes of channel alarm LEDs staying illuminated?
Common causes include:
Relay coil failure or stuck contact: Cycle the channel's programmed logic in the configuration software and check for continuity across relay contacts.
Programming/voting logic misconfiguration: Re-verify the Alarm Drive Logic setup in the 3500 Rack Configuration Software.
Backplane communication fault: If TX/RX LED is not flashing, reseat the module and check adjacent modules for the same symptom.
Q5: What spare parts are available for the 3500/32-01-00?
Key spares include:
125712-01: Spare 4-Channel Relay Module (main card)
125720-01: Spare 4-Channel Relay I/O Module (for standard applications)
125720-02: Spare 4-Channel Relay I/O Module (for hazardous area/functional safety)
