    The AO801 is part of the S800L I/O system and is designed for ABB System 800xA DCS and AC 800M controllers. It also supports Freelance systems via the AO801-eA variant.

    Q2: Does the AO801 support HART communication?

    No. The AO801 does not support HART pass-through communication. For applications requiring HART, ABB recommends the AO815 series modules.

    Q3: What is the maximum load resistance the AO801 can drive?

    The maximum load resistance is 850 Ω. This allows the module to drive most standard current-to-pressure (I/P) converters and actuators on the market.

    Q4: What is the OSP (Output Set as Predetermined) feature?

    OSP is a safety function that sets the outputs to a predetermined state upon detection of a communication error or module fault. The timer can be configured for 256, 512, or 1024 ms delay before activation.

    Q5: Is the AO801 suitable for SIL-rated (safety) applications or hazardous areas?

    The AO801 itself is a standard module and is not SIL-certified. However, it has ATEX/C1 Div 2 certifications for hazardous area installations (Zone 2). For SIL-rated safety applications, ABB offers the AO890 High Integrity module.
