The KL5151 is a single-channel interface terminal from the Beckhoff Bus Terminal series (KL series) for the traditional K-Bus I/O system, designed for direct connection of incremental encoders with integrated position latch (registration) functionality. It reads the A/B track signals (and zero pulse) from an incremental encoder, maintains a position counter, and can latch the position value on an external trigger or zero pulse — enabling precise capture of positions at specific events. It is the K-Bus counterpart to the EtherCAT EL5151. Unlike EtherCAT terminals (EL series), the KL series communicates via the K-Bus and is typically used with Beckhoff Bus Couplers or Bus Terminal Controllers.
