The KL5111 is a single-channel interface terminal from the Beckhoff Bus Terminal series (KL series) for the traditional K-Bus I/O system, designed for direct connection of incremental encoders. It reads the A/B track signals (and optionally the zero pulse), maintains a position counter, and delivers the position value to the controller. It is an extended variant in the KL51xx incremental encoder family; the exact feature differences versus the KL5101 and KL5151 should be confirmed in the current Beckhoff datasheet. Unlike EtherCAT terminals (EL series), the KL series communicates via the K-Bus and is typically used with Beckhoff Bus Couplers or Bus Terminal Controllers.
