The 1756‑L71S GuardLogix controller is TÜV Rheinland certified for use in safety applications up to :

• SIL 3 per IEC 61508 / EN 62061

• Category 4 / PL e per EN ISO 13849‑1 

• Certified with various international standards, including China CCC, CE, IECEx Scheme, ATEX, and Australian RCM 

Important: This controller must be used with a 1756‑L7SP safety partner module to achieve SIL 3 certification. The primary controller and safety partner must be installed in adjacent slots (primary on the left, partner on the right) .

System Integration Notes

• Programming Software: Use Studio 5000 Logix Designer® version 21 or later, or RSLogix 5000 version 20 or later 

• No Built‑in Ethernet: This processor has no embedded Ethernet port. Use 1756‑ENBT, 1756‑EN2T, or other communication modules for EtherNet/IP connectivity 

• Network Support: Supports CIP Safety over EtherNet/IP for safety interlocking between GuardLogix processors, as well as DeviceNet and ControlNet for safety I/O connectivity 

• I/O Compatibility: Works with both standard and safety I/O modules (e.g., 1756‑IB8S, 1756‑OB8S) in the same chassis

• Redundancy: Full controller redundancy is supported
