High-Speed, Deterministic Communication: The module provides a 10 Mbps Ethernet link tailored for the AC 800F's system bus. It uses a dedicated LAN controller with DMA (Direct Memory Access) to pre-process network data, significantly offloading the main CPU and ensuring low-latency, deterministic communication.
Easy Integration and Network Flexibility: With a standard RJ45 connector, the EI813F can connect to any commercially available Ethernet switch or hub, allowing for flexible network topologies. It supports standard TCP/IP protocols and can be used to link the controller to various third-party devices via Modbus/TCP.
Reliable and Diagnostic-Rich Design: Designed for harsh industrial environments, the module offers a wide operating temperature range and features galvanic isolation and overvoltage protection on the RJ45 port. Front-panel LEDs provide clear real-time diagnostics for network link, activity, and module status, simplifying troubleshooting.
The EI813F is extensively used in process and heavy industries that rely on the Freelance AC 800F system for control and monitoring, including:
Process Industries: Petrochemical, chemical, and pharmaceutical plants for DCS network communication.
Power Generation: Boiler and turbine control networks in thermal power plants.
Heavy Industry: Water/wastewater treatment, pulp and paper, and large-scale production lines like steel and mining.
Q1: Is the EI813F compatible with all ABB control systems?
A: No, it is specifically designed for the Freelance AC 800F system. It is not compatible with other ABB platforms like AC 800M or AC500.
Q2: Which CPU modules does the EI813F work with?
A: It is compatible with the AC 800F's PM802F and PM803F processor modules.
Q3: Can the EI813F be hot-swapped (replaced while the system is running)?
A: No. Unseating or installing this communication module while the parent processor rack is energized is restricted and can cause a system watchdog error.
Q4: What software version is required for the EI813F?
A: The module requires Freelance software V7.1 SP2a or higher for proper driver initialization and communication.
Q5: What is the primary difference between the EI813F and the EI803F?
A: The EI813F is a newer Ethernet module, and ABB's official installation guide recommends using the EI 811F, EI 812F, or EI 813F for improved performance and functionality over the older EI 801F, 802F, and 803F.
The EI813F is part of ABB's Ethernet communication module family for the Freelance AC 800F system. Below are key related products for similar or alternative communication needs:
| Product/Model | Type | Brief Description |
|---|---|---|
| EI813F | Ethernet Communication | The featured 10BaseT Ethernet module for AC 800F, supporting Modbus/TCP and a system bus link. |
| EI803F | Ethernet Communication | An older version of the 10BaseT Ethernet module for AC 800F. |
| FI830F | Fieldbus Module | A common companion module for connecting to other fieldbus networks. |
| CI854 | Profibus Module | A module used for Profibus communication within the system. |
For new AC 800F projects: The EI813F is the recommended choice, as it supersedes the older EI803F model.
For system expansion: The EI813F is the standard Ethernet interface for the Freelance AC 800F platform, supporting industrial protocols.
For fieldbus connectivity: If connecting to Profibus, consider using the CI854; for other fieldbus types, the FI830F may be more appropriate.
