The Beckhoff EL9550 is a surge filter terminal for the EtherCAT system. It contains an overvoltage filter for the 24 V DC field and system supply, protecting the terminal station from line-bound surge voltages caused by high-energy disturbances such as switching overvoltages from inductive loads or indirect lightning strikes on supply lines.
