The EL6688 is a synchronization terminal from the Beckhoff EtherCAT Terminal series, designed to synchronize an EtherCAT system with an external time source using IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP). It acts as a PTP slave (and/or grandmaster, depending on configuration) and distributes the external time reference into the EtherCAT network via distributed clocks. It is used in applications requiring precise time synchronization across multiple systems, machines, or plant sections.
