The Allen-Bradley 1756-L55 is a legacy ControlLogix 5555 processor. It requires a separate 1756-Mxx memory module to operate—a standalone L55 without a memory module will fault immediately on power-up . It supports firmware up to version 16 via RSLogix 5000 and includes an integrated RS-232 serial port . For migration, the 1756-L71 is the recommended replacement path.
