The "PROXPAC XL" housing is made of Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS), a durable molded thermoplastic that replaces the steel and aluminum used in earlier housings. The material incorporates glass and conductive fibers to strengthen the housing and effectively dissipate electrostatic charges .
