The tap features three copper RJ45 ports that autonegotiate link speed (10/100 Mbps) and duplex settings. Automatic cable crossover detection eliminates the need for special crossover cables .

Ring Supervisor Capability
The 1783-ETAP can be configured as a DLR ring supervisor through RSLinx Classic or Studio 5000. The supervisor transmits beacon frames through both Ethernet ports to monitor ring integrity and manage network fault recovery .

DIN Rail and Panel Mounting Options
The tap supports both DIN rail and panel mounting configurations. For DIN rail mounting, the integrated latch hooks over standard 35mm rail. For panel mounting, pilot holes are drilled using the tap as a template .

Wide Temperature Range for Harsh Environments
The 1783-ETAP operates from -25°C to +70°C with T5 temperature classification, making it suitable for demanding industrial environments. For ATEX Zone 2 applications, it requires mounting in an IP54-rated enclosure .

Simple Rotary Switch IP Configuration
The tap ships DHCP-enabled with rotary switches set to 999. For networks using the 192.168.1.x format, the rotary switches can set the last octet of the IP address directly. The leftmost switch represents the first digit, middle switch the second, and rightmost switch the third digit.
